KSE-100 sheds 1,250 points amid political crisis

KSE100

KARACHI: The full-blown political crisis has left the benchmark KSE-100 index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange battered and bruised. The apex index lost 1,250.07 points on the first working day of the week amid a murky trading situation.

The bad situation at the KSE-100 is attributed to the current political crisis in the country. The National Assembly Deputy Speaker had dismissed the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan yesterday following which the latter advised the President Arif Alvi to dissolve the assemblies.

The ruling and the subsequent actions on part of the prime minister and president drew sharp reactions from the opposition which has challenged the matter in the Supreme Court. The aftereffects of the political crisis were felt almost immediately as the index lost 700 points straightaway at the opening. By the time, the day ended, the index had lost around 1,250 points.
