PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is under major dengue attack as 247 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours. The total number of confirmed cases in the province has crossed the 8,000-benchmark.

Peshawar stands out as the most affected region as 194 new cases were reported from the province’s capital in the last 24 hours.

The District Administration said that Health Department, town municipal administration, and Water Supply and Sanitation Programme were working on the dengue elimination drive under their supervision, and regular spraying was being done in various areas.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary has ordered a special seven-day anti-dengue drive to eradicate the infection-causing mosquito from the area. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) has also instructed all the officers of the district administration to make all the necessary arrangements to exterminate the dengue mosquitos.

He has also requested citizens to follow dengue protocols, instructed by health staff as it was impossible to fight the disease without the support of the public.
