KARACHI: On the directives of Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar, the Sindh Social Protection Department would include kachi abadis and slum areas of Karachi in its comprehensive strategy to protect poverty-stricken districts.
According to Interim CM Sindh, the kachi abadis, slum areas, and rural areas of Karachi carry a high ratio of poverty ratio and should included in the programme by the Social Protection Department. The development came after a meeting in CM House, held to view the progress of the department. CEO Social Protection Samiullah Shaikh, PSCM Hassan Naqvi, Secretary Finance Kazim Jatoi, Haris Gazdar, Chief Secretary Dr. Fakhre Alam, Vice Chairman Social Protection Board Haris Gazdar, and Chairman P&D Shakeel Manijo attended the meeting.
As per the briefing by Haris Gazdar and Samiullah Shaikh, the department launched programmes on Food Security (Bhook Mitao) and Benazir Women Agriculture Workers programme.
