Ishaq Dar takes oath as country’s finance minister

ISLAMABAD: Shortly after landing here, formerly declared absconder Ishaq Dar has taken the oath as the country’s new finance minister. He has replaced Miftah Ismail who had resigned from the coveted post following the meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief Nawaz Sharif in London.

Dar was administered the oath by President Dr Arif Alvi. His swearing-in ceremony was also attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Dar has already made some bizarre claims following his arrival in the country. He has attributed his arrival to the recovery of rupee against the US dollar. He has claimed that Rs1350 billion in deficit have been wiped ever since he arrived in Pakistan.
