KARACHI: The metropolitan city has reported an alarming increase in the cases of Influenza virus and other respiratory infections as a transition of weather occurs across several cities of Pakistan.
Doctors and health experts indicated a hike in cases that reported illness with flu-like symptoms. A high number of elderly citizens were among the infected. An exponential increase occurred in respiratory tract infections
since the start of October. Patients said they suffered from body pains, high fever, cough, runny nose, headaches and sore throat.
Some private and government hospitals also reported cases of chickenpox and measles.
Health experts advised citizens to wash their hands and use facemasks as a precautionary measure to avoid getting affected by the influenza virus. Note that the virus transmits from one infected person to another.
Those who got infected should limit contact with others and stay home for at least 24 hours. The Sindh health department suggested taking influenza vaccination for protection.
