Inflation rate in November stood at 23.8 per cent, 12.3 pc more than last year

The Federal Bureau of Statistics has released the inflation report which disclosed that the inflation rate during November reached 23.8 per cent. Last month, the inflation rate stood at 26.6pc (0.76pc more than the current month’s rate). In comparison to last year, the inflation rate was 11.5pc in November (12.3pc less than the current year).

In terms of rural and urban areas, the rate of inflation in cities stood at 21.6pc and 27.2pc in rural. Prices of onion, tomato, dry fruits, eggs, sugar, dry milk, tea leaves and fish prices have increased on a monthly basis.

The stats released showed that the price of onion went up by 286pc in rural areas and by 285pc in urban areas. Similarly, the price of dal mash soared by 50.78pc in rural and 47.76pc in urban areas, while wheat increased by 47.16pc in rural and 43.4pc in urban territories. Rice, mung dal, mustard oil, cooking oil, and ghee also increased, and food items became expensive by 31pc in one year.

Other than food items, motor fuel rates increased by 52pc, transport fares rose by 44pc, and clothes & shoes became expensive by 18.5pc in one year. Housing, water, electricity, and gas became expensive by 10pc. The inflation rate in health sector increased by 17pc, education by 11pc, and recreational facilities by 25pc.
