IHC summons Shireen Mazari in missing journalist’s case

Islamabad High Court

ISLAMABAD: Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari and the interior secretary in person have been asked to appear before the Islamabad High Court on December 1. The two have been summoned to talk about the case of a missing blogger and journalist.

The court ordered the two to appear before it while hearing the plea of the petitioner, searching for Mudassar Naaru. According to the media reports, the IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah showed displeasure when he was told by the additional attorney general that he had no idea when Prime Minister Imran Khan along with his cabinet ministers would meet Naaru’s family.

Judge stated that state’s reaction would have been different from what it was in Naaru’s case had a son of an influential family gone missing. He further emphasised that the prime minister and his cabinet ministers were only directed to meet the family members of Naaru.

He pointed out the hypocrisy and said that it was “unfair” for the victim’s family to go to commissions to seek help.
