ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan approved a humanitarian aid worth Rs.5bn for Afghanistan while heading the first apex committee meeting of Afghanistan Inter-Ministerial Coordination Cell (AICC) here on Monday.
The meeting was attended by top civil-military leadership of the country including Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Adviser on Finance Mr. Shaukat Fayaz Tarin, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, National Security Adviser Dr. Moeed Yousaf, and other senior officials.
The prime minister also ordered all the ministries to ensure that maximum Afghan citizens were facilitated.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Pakistan, the prime minister “ordered immediate shipment of in-kind humanitarian assistance worth Rs.5bn” comprising food commodities and other supplies.
He also ordered the authorities to make sure that the free vaccination process for all Afghan citizens, arriving in Pakistan via land borders, be continued. The prime minister also gave a go ahead to the Afghan request of allowing the Indian wheat to be transported through Pakistan.
