ISLAMABAD: After days of speculations of lifting the ban on Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), the federal government issued a notice on request of the Punjab government here on Sunday night to remove the name of TLP from the list of the banned political parties.

The decision was made a week after by the government after signing an agreement with the TLP. In other news, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser had convened an in-camera PCNS meeting, where the militrary leadership will brief the lawmakers about the security situation in the country.

The opposition members are expected to raise the issue of secret deal between the government and TLP in the meeting. Meanwhile, the arrangements for the release of the TLP chief, Saad Rizvi, are being made and it is expected that he would be released from jail anytime now.

Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan had been protesting for the last three weeks in different parts of Punjab demanding the expulsion of the French ambassador from the country and the release of Saad Rizvi. The government had signed an agreement with TLP after having declared the party a ‘militant outfit’ last month.
