Government decides to provide targeted subsidies through utility stores

The government has decided to provide subsidies to households included in the Benazir Income Support programme through utility stores. The targeted subsidy will be given to deserving households and families registered under the Benazir Income Support Programme.

With this package, over 8 lakh people would benefit from the Benazir Income Support Programme.

Under the programme, sugar will be available at Rs70 per kg, 10kg pack of flour at Rs400 and ghee at Rs300. However, common citizens will face cruel inflation as they’ll have to buy ghee at Rs375 per kg, sugar at Rs89 per kg and a 10kg bag of flour at Rs248.
