Former policeman kills 34 people in day-care centre of Thailand

Bangkok: On Thursday, a mass shooting incident shocked Thailand. According to their local media, a former policeman shot dead 34 people in a day-care centre and later shot himself. Around 22 children and a few adults died.

Thailand police said that the culprit was a dismissed policeman who lost his position due to a drug allegation. They added that killer was facing a trial and had been in court before the shooting.

Thailand has been a relatively peaceful country in terms of mass shootings. However, the country has a high rate of weapon ownership, and illegal guns are common across the state. The last time a mass shooting occurred in Thailand was in 2020 when a soldier killed 29 people and injured 57 people.
