ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) rejected the claim made by a reputable news organisation stating that the ECP was unable to conduct general elections in three months’ time.

A spokesperson of ECP said that reports circulating on media, regarding its inability to conduct elections in three months are fake. He added that the organisation could hold elections at any given time as it’s their responsibility.

According to the spokesperson, an emergency session has been called to discuss general elections and their preparation. Earlier, President Arif Alvi had dissolved the National Assembly, making it mandatory to hold the new general elections within 90 days.

A well-known news organisation had reported that ECP had shown its inability to conduct elections within 90 days, as multiple legal and procedural issues were creating problems.
