Dr. Arif Alvi invites Chief Election Commissioner to fix General Elections date

Dr. Arif Alvi invites Chief Election Commissioner

President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi has written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja in which he has invited him for a meeting to determine the date of the general elections.

Dr. Arif Alvi hopes to decide the date of the general elections after consultation with the Chief Election Commissioner. It should be noted that the government had dissolved the assemblies before the stipulated time. As per the constitution, after the dissolution, elections must be held within 90 days.

On the other hand, the Election Commission has announced the schedule of constituencies instead of announcing the date of general elections. The Election Commission believes that constituencies are mandatory according to the new census to protect the rights of voters.
