ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, the special court extended judicial remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan & Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood till September 26 in the cypher case.

Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain conducted the hearing of the cypher case inside the Attock Jail. The special court was formed to hear cases regarding the Official Secrets Act, of 1923. ATC-I Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain will hear all cases related to the Official Secrets Act, 1923, registered anywhere in the country. On June 27, the Ministry of Law & Justice appointed Judge Zulqarnain as the Judge of ATC-1.

During the hearing on September 13, 2023, Shah Mahmood Qureshi was produced in court as he completed his 14-day judicial remand. Meanwhile, Imran has been imprisoned in jail since August 5 after getting convicted in the Toshakhana case.

Earlier, the IHC had dismissed the decision of a lower court to imprison Imran for three years with a 100,000 fine. Former prime minister Imran remained in jail after the FIA officially arrested him in the cypher case last month.
