Covid restrictions lifted in Ka’aba

MAKKAH: The Grand Mosque in Makkah has decided to drop the Covid protocols. Prayers can now continue without social distancing at full capacity. However, the visitors have to be fully vaccinated.
The Saudi press agency reported: “This is in line with the decision to ease precautionary measures and to allow pilgrims and visitors to the Grand Mosque at full capacity.”
The workers of the Holy Ka’aba removed all the markings of social distancing. People formed prayer queues side-by-side for the first time since the pandemic brought the world to a halt.
The Saudi authorities have also allowed visitors to attend sporting events at all stadiums across the State. Whereas, wearing masks in open areas is not mandatory anymore.
