Child dead, six people missing after flash flood swept car at M9 link road

KARACHI: A 10-year-old child has passed away in a drowning incident after a family of seven members went missing. Their car was swept by a flash flood on the M9 link road, near Kathore. A husband, wife and four children were in the vehicle which was retrieved by the rescue team at Malir River.

A local resident, identified as Shehzad, called the rescue team after witnessing the incident. According to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Memon Goth police station, the high level of water disrupted the rescue operation.

Secretary of the Information Department Abdul Rasheed Solangi said that Edhi Foundation volunteers were helping with the rescue efforts. He added that the family were warned by the locals not to drive ahead but they ignored the warnings.
