LONDON: Former British Pakistani parliamentarian Lord Nazir Ahmed has been convicted of sexual assault by a British Court on Wednesday. Ahmed was found guilty of trying to rape a girl and sexually assaulting a boy in 1970s.
Ahmed, in his teens then, targeted his victims – both of whom were a lot younger than him, said the court. According to the The Sheffield Crown Court, the abuse took place in the Yorkshire County. Ahmed is yet to be handed a jail sentence.
He, on the other hand, had denied the charges and has announced to appeal the verdict. Ahmed had called the allegations “malicious fiction”. According to one of his legal representatives, his legal team would appeal the conviction as the verdict had left them surprised.
