Blast in Peshawar mosque leaves 30 dead; 80 injured

PESHAWAR: On Friday, 30 people reportedly died with nearly 80 people getting injured in the Kocha Risaldar mosque (Peshawar) in a suicide bomb blast. The incident occurred near a mosque and gunshots were heard before the blast.

According to Ijaz Ahsan, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), one police officer died as a result of the shooting that ensued before the bomb was detonated by the suicide bomber. Lady Reading Hospital’s media manager, Asim Khan, reported receiving 30 dead bodies so far.

All wounded were shifted to Lady Reading hospital. The attack has been condemned by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan who has ordered the medical authorities to provide the necessary medical assistance to the injured. President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi also condemned the incident, praying for the speedy recovery of those wounded in the blast.
