Another teenager gunned down in Karachi; family alleges mugging incident

A teenage boy was fatally shot by armed men in what his family claims was a mugging incident in the Sukkan area early Sunday morning.

According to Sukkan SHO Salahuddin Qazi, 18-year-old Bismillah Talib and a friend were standing outside the friend’s house in Khaskheli Goth late Saturday night during a power outage. Qazi reported that two armed men on a motorbike approached them. One of the men dismounted and opened fire on Talib, then both suspects fled without stealing anything.

Talib sustained a single gunshot wound to the chest and died at the scene. His body was transported to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities.

Relatives of the victim told media that Talib was shot when he resisted an attempt by the assailants to snatch his cellphone. However, a spokesperson for Malir police stated that the attackers did not take the cellphones of either the victim or his friend. The spokesperson added that investigators are exploring all possible angles in the case.
