ISLAMABAD: After a fortnight of protesting on the streets of various cities, the leadership of the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan has reached an agreement with the government to call off the stand-off here on Sunday.

Negotiating on behalf of the government were Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Mohammad Khan, and Mufti Munibur Rehman.

Barricades have been removed from areas that were cordoned off following the announcement. Both sides, however, have not made the details of the agreement public. Mufti Munib said that the TLP chief, Saad Rizvi, who is in jail at the moment, was also onboard with the decision.

Meanwhile, according to some reports in the international media, the workers of the TLP have refused to end the protest and have said that they would continue their protest at a different location until their leader Rizvi was released.

Eleven policemen have lost their lives in the protest that turned deadly last week when the workers of the TLP allegedly threw petrol bombs at the law enforcement officials and attacked them with sticks and stones.
