Saudia Arabia allows Aetikaf after nearly two years

MAKKAH: Aetikaf is set to be resumed after two years during the upcoming month of Ramadan in Madinah – Prophet Mosque and Makkah – Grand Mosque. The decision was announced by the Saudi government.

Head of General Presidency, Dr Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, made the official announcement and said that permits would be issued on the official website by the presidency, describing the criteria and other conditions. Earlier, the Aetikaf was suspended in both mosques due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

The holy tradition is practised in the last ten nights of Ramadan. Around 100,000 people observe Aetikaf in Grand Mosque and Prophet Mosque.
