KARACHI: People have started coming to the metropolis in big numbers as their areas continue to be swept by the flood water. According to an estimate of the Sindh Government, more than 50,000 people have already arrived here and are presently staying in camps set up by the local government.

According to media reports, nearly 4,000 people are arriving the city on a daily basis, with experts suggesting that the number could go up if the flood situation did not improve. The numbers were shared at a party of the city chapter of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

The rehabilitation and flood relief efforts were also discussed in the meeting as to how the flood victims would be accommodated, rehabilitated, and resettled in Karachi. It was also pointed out that some criminals were also looking to exploit the flood situation and could carry out criminal activities after entering in the city.
